Well I've already told my learning-to-drive-stick story, but I have another one about my sister's experience. I bought her a 2004 Cavalier with a 5-speed as her first car and she learned to drive it very quickly on our driveway. Unfortunately, the first time we took it out on the road she had to turn left at a difficult intersection. Unbeknownst to me she had the car in 3rd and could not get going without stalling, she was in tears with frustration and we had to chinese firedrill me into the driver's seat to get going again. She has refused to drive standard ever since.
